Job Description

Hi-Lo Food Stores in Chapelton, Clarendon, is seeking a vibrant and dedicated Barista to join our team! Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and speciality drinks, following established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment, ensuring they are clean and in excellent working order.
- Provide friendly, prompt, and efficient customer service, taking orders accurately and making recommendations.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately using our POS system and manage daily sales reports.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee shop area, including counter space, seating, and equipment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, and assist with placing orders as needed.
- Educate customers about our coffee selection, roasts, and other menu items.
- Assist with other general duties within the supermarket as required, contributing to overall store operations.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and hygiene.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role, preferably in a coffee shop or cafe environment.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic math skills and experience handling cash transactions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Food Handler's Permit (or willingness to obtain one upon employment).
- Familiarity with various coffee beans and brewing methods.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering.
- A genuine passion for coffee and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
