Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Barista to join a vibrant and bustling coffee shop team in the heart of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. As a Barista, you will be the face of the coffee experience, crafting exceptional beverages and providing warm, friendly service that keeps our customers coming back. Your day will involve everything from expertly pulling espresso shots and steaming milk to latte art, preparing a variety of coffee and non-coffee beverages, and ensuring the coffee bar is always spotless and well-stocked. You’ll be expected to understand different brewing methods, coffee origins, and flavour profiles, allowing you to confidently recommend and discuss our offerings with patrons. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee and non-coffee beverages with speed and consistency, adhering to recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, taking orders and providing recommendations.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, and restrooms throughout shifts.
- Monitor and replenish coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, notifying management of stock levels.
- Educate customers on different coffee beans, brewing methods, and menu items.
- Uphold health and safety standards, ensuring food safety regulations are met.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional customer service.
- Assist with opening and closing duties of the coffee shop as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista in a busy coffee shop environment.
- Exceptional knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and beverage recipes.
- Proficiency in operating espresso machines and grinders.
- Strong latte art skills.
