Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages according to established recipes and standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Ensure the quality of all beverages, paying close attention to taste, temperature, and presentation, including latte art.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, making informed recommendations, and engaging with patrons.
- Handle cash and card transactions efficiently and accurately using a Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, and restrooms throughout the shift.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, reporting needs to management promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, ensuring food safety standards are met at all times.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, collaborating effectively with team members and management.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the coffee shop, including stocking, cleaning, and securing the premises.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role (minimum 12 months).
- Demonstrable knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction, and basic latte art.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality beverages consistently.
- Basic math skills and previous experience with POS systems for order processing and payment handling.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Genuine passion for coffee, an eagerness to learn, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized barista training program or culinary institution.
- Experience with different brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, cold brew, AeroPress).
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices specific to the food and beverage industry.
- Ability to speak multiple languages, which can be beneficial for serving a diverse clientele.
