Join Career.zycto as a Barista and become an essential part of our welcoming café experience in Vacoas, Vacoas-Phoenix. We are searching for an enthusiastic and skilled individual who possesses a genuine passion for coffee and an unwavering commitment to outstanding customer service. As a Barista, you will be the face of our establishment, responsible for crafting delicious beverages, engaging with our valued customers, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and hygiene.
Your day-to-day will involve expertly preparing a wide array of coffee and tea beverages, from perfectly pulled espressos and creamy lattes to refreshing iced coffees and specialty drinks. We expect you to be proficient in operating and meticulously maintaining our state-of-the-art espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment. Beyond the technical aspects, this role is deeply rooted in hospitality; you will greet customers with a warm smile, take their orders accurately, answer questions about our menu, and ensure every guest feels valued and leaves with a memorable experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Expertly prepare and serve a diverse menu of coffee, tea, and other beverages following Career.zycto's recipes and quality standards.
- Operate, clean, and maintain espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other coffee-making equipment meticulously.
- Provide exceptional customer service, warmly greeting guests, taking accurate orders, and processing payments efficiently.
- Educate customers on coffee bean origins, flavor profiles, brewing methods, and menu offerings to enhance their experience.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization at the workstation, service counter, and customer seating areas.
- Monitor and manage inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, reporting needs promptly.
- Accurately handle cash and credit/debit card transactions using our point-of-sale system.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies.
- Actively contribute to a positive, welcoming, and vibrant atmosphere for both customers and team members.
- Assist with other café duties as needed, including light food preparation, stocking shelves, and general cleaning tasks.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista, preferably 12 months or more, with strong coffee knowledge.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining professional espresso machines and grinders.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate cash handling and inventory management.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20kg.
- Fluent in English and French, both written and verbal, for effective communication with a diverse clientele.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized barista training program or culinary institute.
- Demonstrated ability to perform latte art.
- In-depth knowledge of various coffee bean origins, roasting levels, and brewing methods.
- Experience in a similar café, restaurant, or hospitality setting in Mauritius.
- Ability to communicate in additional local languages, such as Mauritian Creole.
