Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages (espresso, latte, cappuccino, filter coffee, etc.) adhering to Career.zycto's strict quality and presentation standards.
- Operate, clean, and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee preparation equipment to ensure optimal performance and hygiene.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, taking orders accurately, making informed recommendations, and resolving inquiries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area, serving stations, and customer seating areas throughout your shift.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately using our Point of Sale (POS) system and manage cash floats.
- Monitor and restock inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, communicating needs to management.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations relevant to food and beverage preparation and service.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations, timely service, and an exceptional overall customer experience.
- Educate customers on different coffee beans, roasts, brewing methods, and our seasonal specials to enhance their coffee journey.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up and breaking down the café space.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a Barista in a café or similar environment.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction, and milk texturing.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting espresso machines and coffee grinders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with diverse customers.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding beverage quality and presentation.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate transaction processing and inventory management.
- Fluency in both English and French is essential.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized barista training program or equivalent professional development.
- Demonstrated ability in latte art and other advanced coffee presentation techniques.
- Familiarity with local coffee preferences and trends in Mauritius.
- Proficiency in additional languages, such as Mauritian Creole.
