Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and speciality drinks, adhering to established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain professional coffee equipment, including grinders, espresso machines, and brewing apparatus, ensuring optimal performance and cleanliness.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, processing payments, and engaging with patrons in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting counter area, ensuring all supplies are stocked and workstations meet health and safety regulations.
- Educate customers on menu items, coffee bean origins, and brewing methods, offering recommendations and enhancing their overall experience.
- Handle cash and electronic transactions accurately, reconcile daily sales, and adhere to cash handling procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, reporting shortages to management.
- Assist with food preparation tasks, such as heating pastries or preparing simple grab-and-go items, as required.
- Contribute to a positive team environment, assisting colleagues and supporting overall café operations.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines and company policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Barista in a café or similar hospitality setting.
- Proficiency in operating espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment.
- Solid understanding of various coffee brewing methods and drink recipes.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a positive and engaging attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality beverages.
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and order processing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Barista skills or completion of a recognized coffee training program.
- Demonstrated ability to perform latte art techniques.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic inventory management.
- Ability to communicate effectively in French and/or Creole in addition to English.
