Engen Lesotho, a leading name in fuel and convenience retail, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Barista to join our Quickshop team in Ha Rasekila, Leribe. As our Barista, you will be at the heart of our Quickshop operations, responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and serving a wide range of expertly prepared beverages, from rich espressos and creamy lattes to refreshing iced coffees. Beyond the brew, you’ll be a friendly face, engaging with our diverse clientele, ensuring every visit is a pleasant and efficient one. Your day will involve not only the art of coffee making but also maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness and hygiene across your workstation and the Quickshop area. You’ll be skilled in operating and maintaining state-of-the-art coffee equipment, ensuring it’s always in perfect working order. Efficient cash handling, accurate order taking, and stock management will also be key aspects of your responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations and minimal waiting times for our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a diverse menu of coffee beverages, including espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and specialty drinks, adhering to Engen's quality standards.
  • Operate and maintain all coffee-making equipment, ensuring cleanliness, proper functionality, and timely reporting of any maintenance issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, handling inquiries, and building a positive rapport with customers.
  • Process cash and card transactions efficiently and accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee station and Quickshop area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and replenish coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, ensuring stock levels are adequate throughout the day.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety, hygiene, and customer service.
  • Promote special offers, loyalty programs, and new menu items to enhance customer engagement and drive sales.
  • Assist with other Quickshop duties as needed, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the service station.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role within the food and beverage industry (minimum 6 months).
  • Basic knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso machine operation, and latte art fundamentals.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding cleanliness, product quality, and order accuracy.
  • Proficiency in handling cash transactions and operating a POS system.
  • Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to commit to an immediate start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a retail or convenience store environment.
  • Knowledge of local food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to speak Sesotho and English fluently to effectively communicate with diverse customers.
  • A genuine passion for coffee and a desire to create memorable experiences for customers.
