Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks with consistency and speed, adhering to recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functionality.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, front-of-house area, and back-of-house according to all health and safety regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, processing payments, and making informed recommendations.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions efficiently using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Manage inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, communicating needs to management to prevent shortages.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, building rapport and ensuring a positive, memorable experience.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the coffee bar, including stocking, cleaning, and preparing for the next shift.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista (minimum 6 months) in a fast-paced cafe or restaurant setting.
- In-depth knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso calibration, and various brew methods.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in beverage preparation.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and calculating change accurately.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated latte art proficiency and creativity.
- Possession of a valid Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience with specialty coffee programs or diverse coffee origins.
- Familiarity with inventory management and ordering procedures.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly Spanish or other common languages in the community.
