Job Description
We are on the hunt for a passionate and skilled Bartender Lounge Attendant to join our energetic team at The Pub Thome. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including classic cocktails, house specials, beers, and wines, according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, attentive, and professional manner, taking orders, providing recommendations, and ensuring their complete satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar area, including glassware, bar tools, and ingredients, adhering strictly to hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Process payments accurately using our POS system, manage cash and credit card transactions, and reconcile daily sales.
- Monitor alcohol consumption to ensure responsible service, identifying and addressing intoxicated guests appropriately.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, storing, and rotating stock, and reporting low stock levels to management.
- Collaborate with the lounge team to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive guest experience.
- Adhere to all local and national regulations regarding alcohol service and health and safety.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of the bar and lounge area before and after service.
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism and a problem-solving attitude.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Bartender or Lounge Attendant, preferably in a fast-paced bar, lounge, or hotel setting.
- Exceptional knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, and beers.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent numeracy and cash handling skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 20kg).
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Swahili is a significant advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized bartending school or hospitality institution.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems specific to the hospitality industry (e.g., Micros, Aloha).
- Knowledge of current mixology trends and ability to create new, innovative drinks.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- A keen interest in local and international beverage trends and culinary pairings.
