Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Process payroll, taxes, and other financial transactions in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports for management review.
  • Maintain organized and accessible financial records, both physical and digital.
  • Support senior accountants during month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and relevant Kenyan financial regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally ERP).
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IFRS.
  • Excellent data entry and record-keeping abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (K) certification or progress towards it.
  • Experience working with multiple clients or in an accounting firm setting.
  • Familiarity with Kenyan tax laws and compliance procedures.
