Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations monthly.
- Process payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and preparing remittances.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain organized and accessible financial records, both physical and digital.
- Support the preparation of year-end working papers for external accountants.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations (e.g., GST/PST).
- Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal teams regarding financial matters in clear English.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Sage 50, or similar.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with payroll processing and related software.
- Knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices (if applicable to the client).
- Enrollment in or completion of a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA program).
