Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing, including calculations, deductions, and submission of relevant reports (e.g., HMRC filings).
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including verifying, posting, and reconciling invoices and supplier statements.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts regularly to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee petty cash management and expense report processing.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and company policies.
- Maintain organised and accessible financial records, both physical and digital.
- Collaborate with the management team to provide financial data and insights as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role (minimum 2 years).
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field (e.g., AAT Level 3/4).
