Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude, providing recommendations and guidance on book selections.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system, handling cash, credit cards, and gift cards.
  • Organize and shelve books, ensuring displays are attractive, well-stocked, and adhere to store merchandising standards.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving new stock, processing returns, and conducting stock checks.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and inviting store environment, including dusting shelves, tidying reading areas, and organizing periodicals.
  • Handle customer inquiries, special orders, and reservations efficiently and courteously.
  • Support the planning and execution of in-store events, such as book readings, signings, and children's story times.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Stay informed about new book releases, literary trends, and author news to better assist customers.

Required Skills

  • Proven customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
  • A genuine passion for books and reading across various genres.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new POS systems quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English.

  • Previous experience working in a bookstore or library setting.
