As a Bookstore Cashier, you will play a crucial role in managing all customer transactions, assisting with inquiries, and maintaining the inviting ambiance of our store. You will accurately handle cash, credit/debit card, and mobile payments, process returns and exchanges efficiently, and ensure the point-of-sale system is always accurate. Key Responsibilities
- Operate cash register, POS system, and handle financial transactions accurately (cash, credit/debit card, mobile payments).
- Provide friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable customer service, assisting with inquiries and book recommendations.
- Process returns, exchanges, and special orders in accordance with store policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting checkout area and sales floor.
- Assist with shelving, restocking, and merchandising books and other products.
- Participate in inventory management tasks, including receiving and tagging new arrivals.
- Stay informed about new releases, promotions, and store events.
- Address customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and uphold store standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a cashier or in a customer service role, preferably in a retail environment.
- Excellent numerical skills and meticulous attention to detail for handling cash and transactions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system efficiently.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible part-time hours, including evenings and weekends.
- A genuine passion for books and reading across various genres.
