Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately process sales transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and manage returns/exchanges efficiently.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting customers warmly and assisting with inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and sales floor.
  • Assist customers in locating books and recommending titles based on their preferences.
  • Replenish shelves, organize displays, and ensure books are attractively presented.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including balancing the cash register.
  • Stay informed about new arrivals, promotions, and store events.
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalate when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service or retail environment (preferably 6+ months).
  • Excellent cash handling and POS system proficiency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for books and reading.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to lift and carry boxes of books (up to 20 lbs).
