Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with book inquiries, recommendations, and locating specific titles.
- Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems, including handling cash and card payments.
- Receive, unpack, and shelve new book arrivals and other merchandise efficiently.
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and visual appeal of the bookstore shelves, displays, and general retail area.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including stock counts and restocking.
- Create engaging and attractive book displays to promote new arrivals and featured collections.
- Support the Bookstore Manager with various operational tasks as needed.
- Provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all visitors and patrons.
- Handle customer returns and exchanges in accordance with company policy.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with POS systems (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to lift and move boxes of books (up to 10-15 kg).
- Fluency in Portuguese and working knowledge of English.
- A genuine passion for books and reading.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, bookstore, or library setting.
- Familiarity with various book genres and authors.
- Experience with visual merchandising or display creation.
- Knowledge of other local languages (e.g., Changana, Sena).
