Career.zycto is seeking a motivated and meticulous Brewery Packaging Assistant to join a vibrant team in East Side, Alice Springs. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the brewing process, specifically focusing on the critical final stages of packaging our exceptional craft beverages. As a Packaging Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring our products are bottled, canned, kegged, and prepared for distribution with the utmost care and quality.
Your day-to-day will involve operating and maintaining various packaging machinery, from fillers and labelers to palletisers, ensuring smooth and efficient production runs. This is a hands-on position requiring a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production environment. You will be instrumental in upholding the high standards of our brand, ensuring every product that leaves the brewery meets our rigorous quality benchmarks. Beyond operating machinery, you’ll be involved in quality control checks, inventory management of packaging materials, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in a dynamic industrial setting. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor packaging machinery, including bottling lines, canning lines, keg washers, and fillers.
- Perform routine quality control checks on packaged products (e.g., fill levels, labels, date codes).
- Prepare, clean, and sanitise packaging equipment and work areas according to strict hygiene standards.
- Assist with loading and unloading packaging materials (e.g., bottles, cans, labels, cartons, kegs).
- Ensure accurate labelling, coding, and sealing of all products.
- Conduct basic preventative maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues with packaging equipment.
- Assist with inventory management of packaging supplies and finished goods.
- Adhere strictly to all occupational health and safety (OH&S) guidelines and company policies.
- Collaborate effectively with brewing, cellar, and logistics teams to meet production targets.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organisation within the packaging department.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within food & beverage.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
- Physical fitness, capable of lifting up to 25kg regularly and standing for long periods.
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and inventory management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically in a brewery or beverage packaging role.
- Forklift licence (LF class).
- Understanding of HACCP principles or food safety regulations.
- Trade qualification or relevant certification in manufacturing or mechanical operations.
