Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair broadcast equipment, including cameras, audio mixers, video switchers, routing systems, and non-linear editing suites.
- Monitor broadcast signals and transmission quality, identifying and resolving any technical issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all broadcast systems and infrastructure, adhering to industry best practices and safety standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical faults in hardware and software, often under pressure during live broadcasts or tight production schedules.
- Provide technical support to production teams during studio recordings, live events, and outside broadcasts.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance logs, and repair histories.
- Stay current with emerging broadcast technologies and recommend upgrades or improvements to existing systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to integrate new technologies and ensure system compatibility.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Broadcast Technician or in a similar technical support role within media production.
- Strong understanding of broadcast signal paths, video and audio standards (SDI, AES/EBU, IP-based video/audio).
- Proficiency with various broadcast equipment manufacturers and their operating systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex technical problems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Working knowledge of IT networking principles relevant to broadcast systems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for technical explanations and team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant degree or diploma in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Media Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with IP-based broadcast workflows (e.g., SMPTE 2110).
- Familiarity with playout automation systems and media asset management (MAM) platforms.
- Professional certifications in broadcast technology or IT networking.
