Key Responsibilities

  • Execute various construction tasks including bricklaying, concreting, carpentry, and general site duties.
  • Prepare construction sites by cleaning, digging, and performing other necessary labour tasks.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Assist skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Report any hazards, incidents, or defects to site management immediately.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and project managers.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a builder or construction labourer on active sites.
  • Demonstrable practical skills in various construction methods (e.g., masonry, formwork).
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding and adherence to construction site safety procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
  • Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Construction or a related trade.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Experience operating specific construction machinery (e.g., diggers, dumpers) with relevant certifications.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
