Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
- Execute a wide range of repair tasks including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general handyman duties.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment (e.g., HVAC filters, lighting fixtures, emergency exits) to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
- Respond efficiently to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) or similar platform.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialised repairs or installations, ensuring work is completed to specifications and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and building codes, promoting a safe working environment.
- Manage and organise maintenance inventory, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability when needed.
- Assist in the setup and takedown of equipment for events or special requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service to occupants and staff regarding maintenance inquiries and issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Building Maintenance Officer or similar role (e.g., Facilities Technician, Handyman).
- Solid understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.
- Proficiency in minor electrical repairs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building fabric maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
- Current Australian Driver's License.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III or IV in a relevant trade such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing).
- Experience with CMMS software.
- First Aid Certificate.
- White Card (Construction Induction Card).
