Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and proactive Building Maintenance Operative to join a dynamic team responsible for the upkeep and operational efficiency of a prestigious site within the historic Tower of London precinct. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of building infrastructure, systems, and equipment (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety) to identify and address potential issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks as per schedule, ensuring optimal performance and extending asset lifespan.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot a wide range of building-related problems.
- Execute minor repairs and installations across various trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for events and special functions.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices at all times.
- Manage and coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or projects, overseeing their work to ensure quality and adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor and manage building access control systems and security protocols as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance workshops, tools, and equipment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
- Proficiency in basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Competence in general carpentry, painting, and plastering.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks, including lifting and working at heights.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, working at heights).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Maintenance Operations, Electrical, Plumbing).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working in historical or heritage properties.
- Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems).
- IPAF / PASMA certification.
- Valid UK driving license.
