Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Bus Conductors to join our growing team in Barton Hill, Bristol. Your primary responsibilities will include welcoming passengers, accurately collecting fares, validating tickets, and providing clear, helpful information regarding routes, schedules, and local points of interest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet passengers warmly and provide a high level of customer service throughout their journey.
  • Accurately collect fares, issue tickets, and validate passes using electronic ticketing systems.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, particularly those with disabilities, pushchairs, or luggage.
  • Provide clear and concise information regarding routes, stops, schedules, and fare options.
  • Monitor passenger safety and welfare, promptly reporting any incidents or concerns to the driver or operations team.
  • Ensure the comfort and cleanliness of the bus interior during service hours.
  • Handle cash transactions responsibly and reconcile takings at the end of each shift.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, safety protocols, and public transport regulations.
  • Act as an ambassador for Career.zycto, maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor at all times.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable customer service experience, ideally in a public-facing role.
  • Basic numeracy skills for accurate cash handling and fare calculation.
  • A reliable and punctual approach to work, with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • High level of integrity and honesty for handling transactions.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move around the bus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the public transport sector or a similar customer service environment.
  • Familiarity with local Bristol geography and bus routes.
  • First aid certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
