Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking dedicated Bus Conductors for Fare & Passenger Service roles in the vibrant St Mellons area of Cardiff. As a Bus Conductor, you are more than just a ticket issuer; you are the welcoming face of our transport network, a source of helpful information, and a crucial element in maintaining service excellence.

In this role, you will be responsible for warmly greeting passengers as they board, accurately collecting fares, and issuing tickets using our modern systems. Your excellent communication skills will be essential in assisting passengers with their queries regarding routes, timetables, and local points of interest. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the comfort and safety of everyone on board, managing passenger flow during peak times, and offering assistance to those who need it most, including individuals with disabilities, parents with prams, or elderly passengers. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet passengers and provide a positive boarding experience.
  • Accurately collect fares, issue tickets, and process payments (cash and card).
  • Assist passengers with enquiries regarding routes, timetables, and local information.
  • Ensure passenger safety and comfort throughout their journey.
  • Manage passenger flow efficiently, especially during peak hours.
  • Offer assistance to passengers with disabilities, prams, or luggage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the bus interior (light duties).
  • Report any incidents, disputes, or issues to the bus driver or supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, safety procedures, and transport regulations.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to handle cash and card payments accurately and with integrity.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • High level of reliability and punctuality.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for ticket issuance and record-keeping.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role (e.g., retail, hospitality, public services).
  • Knowledge of local geography and bus routes within Cardiff and surrounding areas.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Proficiency in Welsh language (desirable).
