Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Bus Drivers to become an integral part of Karen’s public transport network. This on-site role is crucial for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient movement of passengers across designated routes within Karen, Nairobi. As a Bus Driver, you will be the face of our service, responsible for providing a reliable and comfortable journey for thousands of commuters daily. Your day-to-day will involve operating modern public transport buses, navigating through Karen’s routes, and ensuring all passengers reach their destinations safely and punctually. Key Responsibilities
- Operate public transport buses safely and efficiently on assigned routes within Karen, Nairobi, adhering strictly to traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain strict adherence to scheduled timetables, ensuring punctuality for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries, managing fare collection processes accurately, and ensuring a pleasant travel experience.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects, mechanical issues, or maintenance needs promptly.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the bus interior and exterior throughout shifts.
- Accurately complete daily logbooks, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Handle emergency situations calmly and professionally, following established safety protocols and company guidelines.
- Assist passengers with disabilities or special needs, ensuring accessibility and comfort.
- Act as a professional and responsible representative of the public transport service at all times, upholding company values.
Required Skills
- Valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license for Kenya, with the appropriate class for bus operation.
- Minimum of 3 years (36 months) proven professional bus driving experience, preferably in a public transport setting.
- Clean driving record with no major accidents or significant traffic violations.
- Excellent knowledge of Nairobi and specifically Karen's road network, traffic regulations, and local landmarks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and customer-centric approach.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational needs.
- High level of responsibility, punctuality, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for conducting pre-trip inspections and minor troubleshooting on the road.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Mechanics or a related field.
- Experience with electronic ticketing and passenger management systems.
- Valid First Aid and defensive driving certification.
- Proficiency in both Swahili and English, and ideally other local languages.
- A track record of consistent positive feedback from passengers or supervisors regarding service quality and safety.
