Key Responsibilities
- Operate passenger transport vehicles safely and efficiently on scheduled routes.
- Adhere strictly to road safety regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with enquiries and ensuring a pleasant journey.
- Collect fares, issue tickets, and manage passenger manifests accurately.
- Conduct pre- and post-shift vehicle checks, reporting any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the bus interior.
- Handle emergency situations calmly and professionally, following company protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members.
- Manage passenger behaviour to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all.
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, mileage, and incidents.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) driving licence (Category D or D1)
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification
- Minimum 1 year of professional bus driving experience
- Excellent driving record with no major endorsements
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and traffic laws
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Market Weighton and surrounding East Riding of Yorkshire area
- Experience with different types of bus vehicles (e.g., single-deck, double-deck)
- First Aid certification
- Experience working in a multicultural environment
