As a Cadet Surveyor, you will learn the fundamentals of various surveying techniques, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction staking, and volumetric calculations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Surveyors and field crews with setup, operation, and calibration of surveying equipment (GPS/GNSS, total stations, levels, etc.).
  • Participate in data collection activities for various survey types including topographic, boundary, ALTA/ACSM, and construction staking.
  • Perform basic calculations and data entry using surveying software.
  • Maintain and organize field notes, data logs, and project documentation accurately.
  • Learn and adhere to safety procedures and protocols on all job sites.
  • Assist in performing quality control checks on collected data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support office-based tasks such as data processing, drafting, and report preparation as needed.
  • Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites.
  • Continuously learn about new surveying technologies, methods, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate progress and challenges.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in land surveying, geography, or civil engineering.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics and geometry.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or a technical degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) or surveying software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, Leica Infinity).
  • Prior experience with any surveying equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS) through academic projects or internships.
  • Knowledge of German building codes and surveying regulations.
