Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and portion a variety of nutritious snacks (e.g., fruit, sandwiches, desserts) according to daily menus, recipes, and resident dietary needs.
- Ensure all food preparation areas, utensils, and equipment are meticulously cleaned, sanitized, and organized before, during, and after use.
- Adhere strictly to all provincial food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP principles, provincial health codes).
- Assist with inventory management of snack ingredients and supplies, notifying supervisors of low stock levels or expiring products.
- Work collaboratively with the dietary team, including cooks, dietary aides, and supervisors, to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Provide a positive and friendly presence, occasionally interacting with residents in a respectful and cheerful manner.
- Assist in the proper receiving, rotation, and storage of food deliveries to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
- Monitor and record food temperatures (e.g., refrigeration, holding temperatures) as required to ensure safety standards are met.
- Follow established portion control guidelines to minimize waste and meet the nutritional requirements of residents.
- Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as microwaves, toasters, and food processors.
