Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of professional camera equipment, including cinema cameras, DSLRs, and broadcast cameras, for diverse production types.
- Set up and dismantle camera, lighting, audio, and grip equipment efficiently and safely on location and in the studio.
- Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other crew members to interpret scripts, storyboards, and creative briefs into visually compelling shots.
- Maintain optimal camera settings, focus, exposure, and white balance throughout shoots.
- Perform pre-production checks on all gear, ensuring functionality and readiness for production.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with camera and related equipment promptly.
- Execute complex camera movements and shots, including handheld, tripod, slider, and gimbal operation.
- Ensure adherence to shot lists, production schedules, and safety protocols on set.
- Participate in concept development and offer creative input on visual execution.
- Manage and organize captured footage, preparing it for post-production workflows.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Camera Operator or similar role (minimum 2 years).
- Demonstrable expertise with professional camera systems (e.g., Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, ARRI).
- Strong understanding of lighting principles and techniques for various shooting environments.
- Proficiency in camera operation, lens selection, focus pulling, and composition.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively and adapt to changing conditions.
- Excellent visual storytelling and aesthetic judgment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle and operate camera equipment for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Film Production, Cinematography, Media Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with advanced camera stabilization systems (e.g., Ronin, Steadicam).
- Knowledge of drone operation for aerial videography (with relevant licenses/certifications).
- Familiarity with post-production workflows and basic editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
- A strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating diverse camera operating experience.
- Current Victorian Driver's License and ability to travel to various locations.
