Career.zycto is seeking a versatile Camera Operator to join our innovative team in Clevedon, Bristol. You will be instrumental in capturing high-quality footage for a diverse range of projects, including corporate videos, live streams, documentaries, promotional content, and creative short-form media. Your role will involve operating various camera systems, from broadcast-grade studio cameras to portable field rigs, ensuring every shot aligns with the creative vision and technical specifications of each production. We’re looking for a proactive individual who can not only execute a shot list but also contribute creatively to framing, lighting, and composition. You’ll work closely with directors, producers, and other crew members, bringing stories to life through your lens. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of professional camera equipment (DSLR, Mirrorless, Cinema Cameras, Broadcast Cameras) in both studio and on-location settings.
  • Set up, rig, and de-rig camera and associated equipment, including tripods, gimbals, sliders, and dolly systems.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and lighting/audio teams to achieve the desired visual style and technical requirements.
  • Execute camera movements, framing, and composition with precision and creativity.
  • Monitor video feeds, ensuring optimal exposure, focus, and white balance during shoots.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with camera gear and related equipment efficiently.
  • Assist with basic lighting setups and audio checks as needed to ensure overall production quality.
  • Maintain and organize camera equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition and ready for deployment.
  • Adhere to strict production schedules and deadlines, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Contribute creative ideas and technical solutions to enhance visual storytelling.
  • Perform basic data wrangling and media management post-shoot.
  • Stay updated with the latest camera technologies, techniques, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Camera Operator in studio and/or field environments.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with professional camera systems (e.g., Sony FS7/FX9, Canon C-series, Blackmagic, RED, ARRI).
  • Strong understanding of cinematic principles, composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
  • Familiarity with various lenses, camera support systems, and accessories.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic production team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry camera equipment (up to 20kg) and work long hours on location.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Film Production, Media Studies, Cinematography, or a related field.
  • Experience with live streaming setups and multi-camera productions.
  • Proficiency in basic video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) for review and quality control.
  • Knowledge of advanced colour grading principles.
  • Experience with drone operation (PfCO or A2 CofC certification is a plus).
  • Familiarity with health and safety protocols for location shoots.
