Career.zycto is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Camera Operator with expertise in both studio and field environments to join our growing production team in Calverton, Nottingham. This is an incredible opportunity for a creative individual passionate about visual storytelling and technical excellence. As a Camera Operator, you will be instrumental in capturing high-quality footage for a diverse range of projects, including corporate videos, live events, documentaries, and promotional content. You will operate various camera equipment, set up intricate lighting schemes, and contribute to the overall visual direction and production quality. We are looking for someone who is not only technically proficient but also possesses a keen eye for detail, composition, and visual narrative. You should be adaptable, able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced production schedule, ensuring all footage meets our rigorous standards. Your role will involve frequent travel to various field locations within and around Nottinghamshire, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving on the go.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate professional video cameras, DSLRs, and associated equipment for both studio and on-location shoots.
- Set up, adjust, and dismantle camera and lighting equipment, ensuring optimal visual quality for each scene.
- Collaborate with directors, producers, and other crew members to achieve the desired creative vision and technical specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on camera equipment to ensure peak performance.
- Assist with shot composition, framing, and movement to enhance storytelling and visual appeal.
- Manage and organize media assets, including data transfer and basic logging after shoots.
- Adhere strictly to production schedules, deadlines, and project briefs.
- Ensure the safety of equipment and personnel during all shooting operations.
- Adapt quickly to changing production requirements and environmental conditions in the field.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of camera technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a Camera Operator in studio and field settings.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of professional video cameras (e.g., Blackmagic, Sony, Canon C-series).
- Strong understanding of lighting techniques for different environments and subjects.
- Excellent knowledge of camera settings, lenses, tripods, gimbals, and other camera support equipment.
- Demonstrated ability in shot composition, framing, and camera movement.
- Basic understanding of audio recording principles and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Valid UK driving license and access to reliable transport for field shoots.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Film Production, Media Studies, Cinematography, or a related field.
- Experience with live streaming setups and multi-camera productions.
- Familiarity with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) for post-production awareness.
- Experience operating drones for aerial cinematography (with relevant certification if applicable).
