Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal in classrooms, offices, hallways, washrooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, replenishing supplies as needed, to ensure hygiene standards are met.
- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or hazards observed during cleaning duties to the supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and communicate needs to the supervisor.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to special cleaning requests or emergencies.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
- Support event setup and takedown by assisting with room arrangements and post-event cleanup as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or custodial services (at least 6 months)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and their safe use
- Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in an educational or institutional setting
- First Aid certification is an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks required for the role
