Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
  • Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercises as outlined in their care plans.
  • Support clients with medication reminders and basic health monitoring.
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities, fostering social interaction.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and community outings.
  • Accurately document care provided and report any changes in client condition or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards of care.
  • Collaborate effectively with family members and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year (12 months) of experience as a Care Assistant, Personal Support Worker, or equivalent.
  • Valid work visa eligibility or willingness to undergo work visa sponsorship process.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to assist others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Health Care Assistant, Nursing Aid, or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse client populations and various health conditions.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to Burnaby's multicultural community.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Knowledge of local community resources in Burnaby, BC.
