Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support the night care team, ensuring all duties are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.
- Oversee the care of all residents during the night, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met with dignity and respect.
- Administer medication accurately and safely in accordance with company policies and CQC regulations.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, resident falls, or security concerns, ensuring appropriate protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care plans and records, ensuring all observations and incidents are documented thoroughly.
- Act as a point of contact for residents, relatives, and external professionals during the night, providing clear and concise updates.
- Conduct regular rounds to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and the security of the premises.
- Monitor staff performance, provide guidance, and identify training needs to foster continuous professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety guidelines, safeguarding procedures, and company policies.
- Assist with admissions and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition for residents and families.
- Promote a positive and respectful working environment, encouraging teamwork and effective communication.
Required Skills
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a care home setting
- Demonstrable experience with medication administration (MAR chart competency)
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations and best practice in adult social care
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in written English for accurate record-keeping and report writing
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to resident care
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care or leadership/management qualification
- First Aid certification
- Experience with electronic care planning systems
- Specific training in palliative care or dementia care
