Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide medication reminders and monitor clients' vital signs as required.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and assist with feeding if necessary.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as tidying living areas, laundry, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities like reading, conversation, or hobbies.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including safe use of mobility aids.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings.
- Document care services provided and report any changes in client condition or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and client care plans.
- Offer emotional support and foster a positive, respectful, and safe living environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Caregiver or in a similar role (at least 1 year).
- Compassionate and empathetic nature with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping and meal preparation.
- Strong communication and observational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
- Patience and a positive attitude.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to lift and move clients safely (if required by care plan).
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in home health aide or caregiving.
- Experience working with clients with specific conditions (e.g., dementia, mobility challenges).
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Fluent in local languages, particularly Sepedi or Xitsonga, alongside English.
