Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Caretaker – Property & Security Guard in Glen Park, Vacoas-Phoenix. This crucial dual-role position is responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, and security of a designated property, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for all occupants and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observation skills, and a proactive approach to property management and security. You will be the first line of defense and support, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities and the swift resolution of any issues that may arise. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine patrols of the property, inside and outside, to detect and deter unauthorized activities, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment diligently, inspect buildings, equipment, and access points thoroughly for any signs of intrusion, damage, or malfunction.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all emergencies, including fire alarms, security breaches, medical incidents, and natural occurrences, following established protocols.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the entire property, including common areas, offices, amenities, and grounds, adhering to a strict schedule.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as plumbing, basic electrical troubleshooting, carpentry, and painting, to ensure immediate resolution of issues.
  • Oversee and coordinate effectively with external contractors for specialized repairs, services, and installations when necessary, ensuring quality and timely completion.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling programs efficiently and environmentally responsibly.
  • Inspect and ensure all safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, emergency exits, first aid kits) are in perfect working order, accessible, and compliant with regulations.
  • Record and report any incidents, damages, suspicious activities, or maintenance issues in detail, maintaining accurate logs and documentation.
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment and furniture for events, meetings, or other activities as required.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, maintenance tools, and other consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
  • Enforce property rules and regulations politely but firmly, ensuring compliance by all occupants and visitors.
  • Provide assistance and direction to visitors, tenants, and staff as needed, maintaining a friendly, professional, and helpful demeanor at all times.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 2 years in property maintenance, security guard duties, or a similar caretaker role.
  • Basic knowledge and practical experience in plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, landscaping tools, and basic hand tools.
  • Strong observational skills, keen attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting professionally with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties including lifting heavy objects, bending, climbing, and standing/walking for extended periods.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, with a high degree of integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Possession of a valid driving license (Motorcycle and/or Car) is highly preferred and may be required for mobility on duty.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Secondary School Certificate (Form 5 or above) or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Certified training in First Aid and basic fire safety.
  • Experience with monitoring and operating CCTV surveillance systems and access control.
  • Previous experience working in a residential complex, commercial building, or hotel environment.
  • Proficiency in local languages including Creole, French, and English to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
