Are you a skilled and dedicated Carpenter looking for an opportunity to apply your craft in challenging and rewarding construction projects? LSP Construction, a premier civil engineering and building contractor in Lesotho, is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our dynamic team in Ha Seshote, Butha-Buthe.
As a Carpenter with LSP Construction, you will be instrumental in bringing blueprints to life, working on a diverse range of projects from foundational structures to intricate finishes. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the structural integrity, aesthetic appeal, and overall quality of our constructions. This role demands precision, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of carpentry techniques and safety protocols. You will be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, and installing building materials, including wood, steel, and drywall, to construct frameworks, fixtures, and other structures according to specifications.
We are looking for an individual who is not only proficient with various hand and power tools but also possesses excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong commitment to teamwork. You will collaborate closely with project managers, foremen, and other skilled tradespeople to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, steel, and other materials.
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, such as framework, partitions, joists, studding, and rafters.
- Install flooring, doors, windows, and mouldings.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including electricians, plumbers, and masons.
- Perform finishing work, including sanding, painting, and staining.
- Estimate material and labor costs for projects.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter.
- Proficiency in using electrical and manual tools (saws, hammers, chisels, routers etc.).
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Good physical condition and stamina.
- Solid understanding of safety guidelines and regulations.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry.
- Relevant certification or diploma in carpentry or a related trade.
- Experience with various types of construction projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Lesotho.
- Ability to operate heavy carpentry machinery.
