Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Carpenter to join our network of talented tradespeople, connecting you with exciting construction projects across Malindi, Kilifi County. This is an exceptional opportunity for a precision-focused individual to apply their expertise in various carpentry tasks, contributing to the creation of high-quality structures and finishes. As a Carpenter, you will be instrumental in framing, installing, repairing, and crafting structures and fixtures, working with a variety of materials including wood, plywood, and wallboard. We are looking for someone who takes immense pride in their work, possesses a strong understanding of safety protocols, and can work efficiently both independently and as part of a dynamic project team.
Your day-to-day will involve interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate the dimensions of lumber and other materials. You will be expected to measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. This role demands excellent problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering superior results on every assignment. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, wood substitutes, and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install trim, doors, windows, stairs, and other fixtures.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Instruct apprentices and other construction helpers.
- Estimate heights, widths, lengths, and other proportions.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations on job sites.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, other tradespeople, and clients.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
- Extensive experience with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods.
- Excellent mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Solid understanding of safety standards and practices in construction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks.
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certificate or diploma in carpentry.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working on diverse construction projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Kenya.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment relevant to carpentry tasks.
