Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead carpenters with various tasks, including measuring, cutting, and shaping wood and other materials.
- Help in the assembly and installation of framework, flooring, cabinetry, and other structural components.
- Prepare work sites by cleaning, organizing tools and equipment, and ensuring materials are readily available.
- Load and unload construction materials safely and efficiently, following proper lifting techniques.
- Operate hand and power tools under supervision, adhering strictly to all safety guidelines and operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the day, including daily cleanup of debris and waste.
- Follow instructions from lead carpenters and foremen accurately and promptly, asking clarifying questions when needed.
- Learn and apply proper techniques for construction, repair, and installation through observation and hands-on practice.
- Perform demolition tasks as required, always with a strong emphasis on safety and structural integrity.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of temporary structures like scaffolding and safety barriers.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback from experienced professionals.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions clearly and effectively.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices or a strong commitment to learning them immediately.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites within High Park, Toronto, and surrounding areas.
- Excellent punctuality and a consistent attendance record.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Some prior experience with basic hand tools (e.g., hammers, tape measures) or power tools (e.g., drills, saws).
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
