Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpenter with expertise in both furniture and construction carpentry to join our dynamic team in Phoenix, Vacoas-Phoenix. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all aspects of carpentry, from crafting custom furniture pieces with precision and an eye for detail, to performing essential structural and finishing carpentry tasks on construction sites. This role requires a hands-on professional who can interpret blueprints, measure, cut, shape, and install wood and other materials to construct and repair building frameworks, fixtures, and furniture. You will be instrumental in ensuring the structural integrity, aesthetic appeal, and functionality of various projects, ranging from bespoke interior fittings to large-scale construction elements. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements for projects.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials.
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, frames, flooring, trim, and hardware.
- Fabricate and repair custom wooden furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other fixtures.
- Work with various hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and effectively.
- Inspect and repair damaged wooden structures or furniture.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, other tradespeople, and clients to ensure project success.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter with a strong portfolio of both furniture and construction work.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Expert knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, materials, and methods.
- Strong understanding of construction and woodworking safety protocols.
- Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail for precise measurements and cuts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in Carpentry or a related field.
- Experience with various types of wood and composite materials.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Mauritius.
