Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials according to measurements.
- Construct, install, and repair wooden structures and fixtures such as frameworks, doors, windows, and flooring.
- Fabricate and assemble custom furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other intricate wooden pieces.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and other tradespeople to ensure project completion.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Estimate material and labour costs for various projects.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in structural carpentry and furniture making
- Expertise in operating woodworking machinery and hand tools
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Physical stamina and dexterity
- Valid UK driving license
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, or equivalent vocational qualification
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- Experience with bespoke joinery and finishing techniques
- Portfolio showcasing previous carpentry and furniture projects
