As a Carpenter – Woodwork & Furniture specialist, you will be instrumental in transforming initial concepts and designs into tangible, beautiful realities. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and dimensions.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials to construct frameworks, fixtures, and furniture.
- Perform various joinery techniques, including dovetail, mortise and tenon, and biscuit joints, to create robust and precise structures.
- Install custom cabinetry, shelves, doors, windows, and other architectural woodwork components with precision.
- Operate and maintain a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and effectively.
- Select and inspect timber, veneers, and other materials for quality and suitability for specific projects.
- Apply appropriate finishes, such as stains, varnishes, and polishes, to enhance and protect wooden surfaces.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure adherence to design specifications and company standards.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to wood construction, ensuring timely project completion.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter or Joiner, with a focus on woodwork and furniture.
- Excellent proficiency in using hand and power tools common in carpentry.
- Strong understanding of different wood types, their properties, and best uses.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
- Solid knowledge of various joinery techniques and construction methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
