As a Carpenter – Woodwork & Furniture specialist, you will be instrumental in transforming initial concepts and designs into tangible, beautiful realities. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and dimensions.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other materials to construct frameworks, fixtures, and furniture.
  • Perform various joinery techniques, including dovetail, mortise and tenon, and biscuit joints, to create robust and precise structures.
  • Install custom cabinetry, shelves, doors, windows, and other architectural woodwork components with precision.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and effectively.
  • Select and inspect timber, veneers, and other materials for quality and suitability for specific projects.
  • Apply appropriate finishes, such as stains, varnishes, and polishes, to enhance and protect wooden surfaces.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure adherence to design specifications and company standards.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to wood construction, ensuring timely project completion.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter or Joiner, with a focus on woodwork and furniture.
  • Excellent proficiency in using hand and power tools common in carpentry.
  • Strong understanding of different wood types, their properties, and best uses.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
  • Solid knowledge of various joinery techniques and construction methods.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, lift heavy materials, and work in various positions.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
  • Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with bespoke furniture design and construction.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC machinery for woodworking.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous intricate woodwork or furniture projects.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Full UK driving license.
