Key Responsibilities
- Assist journeymen carpenters with various construction tasks, including measuring, cutting, and shaping wood according to specifications.
- Learn to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications under supervision to understand project requirements.
- Help construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, such as wall frames, roofs, and doorframes.
- Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry, including saws, drills, and hammers, under direct supervision.
- Load and unload materials, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate actively in on-the-job training and learning opportunities, asking questions and seeking feedback to enhance skills.
- Support the team in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on schedule, and to high standards of quality.
- Assist with the installation of windows, doors, stairs, cabinetry, and other building components.
- Perform general labour duties as required to support the construction team and project progress.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and challenges.
- Basic understanding of measurements and calculations (e.g., using a tape measure).
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Good physical stamina, dexterity, and the ability to lift heavy materials safely.
