Job Description

Hwange Colliery Company Limited, a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s mining industry for over a century, is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and visionary Carpentry Foreman to join our dynamic and expansive team in Hwange, Matabeleland North Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of carpenters and apprentices on various projects.
  • Plan and schedule daily work activities, ensuring optimal resource allocation and adherence to project timelines.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Estimate material requirements and manage inventory to prevent shortages and waste.
  • Ensure all carpentry work meets high-quality standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, enforcing all company and regulatory safety policies.
  • Coordinate with other trades, project managers, and engineers to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Carpentry Foreman or Senior Carpenter in an industrial or construction setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and team management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of safety protocols and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for reporting and communication.
  • Valid Class 2 Skilled Worker Certificate or equivalent in Carpentry and Joinery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Certificate or Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery or a related field.
  • Experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • First Aid certification and/or advanced safety training.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Zimbabwe.
