Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Carpentry Technician to join our dynamic team in Goodlands. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of wooden structures and fixtures across various projects. This role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of woodworking techniques, and a commitment to safety and precision. As a Carpentry Technician, you will work closely with project managers and other skilled tradespeople, ensuring all carpentry tasks are completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. Your day-to-day will involve interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate materials, operating a range of hand and power tools, and performing intricate finishing work. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements for materials and layouts.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood materials for various applications, including framing, roofing, flooring, doors, windows, and cabinetry.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, stairs, molding, and hardware, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures, performing repairs or renovations as needed.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively, including saws, drills, planes, sanders, and routers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including electricians, plumbers, and masons, to ensure project synergy.
- Select and procure appropriate lumber, plywood, and other materials, minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
- Perform quality checks on finished work to ensure it meets specified standards and client expectations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Expertise in various carpentry techniques, including framing, finishing, and joinery.
- Skilled in the safe operation of hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry.
- Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent spatial reasoning and mathematical abilities for precise measurements and calculations.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
