Key Responsibilities
- Execute ceramic art pieces from concept to completion, adhering to design specifications and artistic vision.
- Prepare clay bodies, glazes, and firing schedules tailored to specific project requirements.
- Operate and maintain studio equipment, including kilns, pottery wheels, and hand tools.
- Collaborate with creative teams and clients to understand project scope and deliver exceptional results.
- Innovate and experiment with new techniques, materials, and firing methods to expand creative possibilities.
- Ensure high standards of quality control for all ceramic works, from initial molding to final finishing.
- Manage personal project timelines and workflow to meet deadlines effectively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio workspace.
- Provide expert input on material selection, design feasibility, and production processes.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in various hand-building techniques (coiling, slab building, pinching).
- Expertise in wheel-throwing for diverse forms and sizes.
- Comprehensive understanding of glaze chemistry and application methods.
- Experience with kiln operation, loading, and firing schedules (electric and/or gas).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced ceramic artistry and technical skill.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
- Ability to interpret design briefs and translate them into ceramic forms.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fine Arts, Ceramics, or a related field.
- Experience working in a professional art studio or gallery setting.
- Knowledge of advanced decorative techniques such as sgraffito, resist, or decal application.
- Familiarity with 3D design software (e.g., Rhino, Fusion 360) for prototyping purposes.
- Ability to mentor junior artists or assist in workshop instruction.
