Key Responsibilities

  • Execute ceramic art pieces from concept to completion, adhering to design specifications and artistic vision.
  • Prepare clay bodies, glazes, and firing schedules tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Operate and maintain studio equipment, including kilns, pottery wheels, and hand tools.
  • Collaborate with creative teams and clients to understand project scope and deliver exceptional results.
  • Innovate and experiment with new techniques, materials, and firing methods to expand creative possibilities.
  • Ensure high standards of quality control for all ceramic works, from initial molding to final finishing.
  • Manage personal project timelines and workflow to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio workspace.
  • Provide expert input on material selection, design feasibility, and production processes.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in various hand-building techniques (coiling, slab building, pinching).
  • Expertise in wheel-throwing for diverse forms and sizes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of glaze chemistry and application methods.
  • Experience with kiln operation, loading, and firing schedules (electric and/or gas).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating advanced ceramic artistry and technical skill.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.
  • Ability to interpret design briefs and translate them into ceramic forms.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fine Arts, Ceramics, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a professional art studio or gallery setting.
  • Knowledge of advanced decorative techniques such as sgraffito, resist, or decal application.
  • Familiarity with 3D design software (e.g., Rhino, Fusion 360) for prototyping purposes.
  • Ability to mentor junior artists or assist in workshop instruction.
