Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes to the highest standards, following recipes and established procedures.
  • Oversee and manage specific kitchen sections (e.g., larder, pastry, grill), ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef on menu development, including daily specials and seasonal changes.
  • Maintain impeccable hygiene and food safety standards in accordance with HACCP guidelines and local regulations.
  • Manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and place orders to ensure adequate supplies while minimizing waste.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented consistently and meet the client's quality expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery and guest satisfaction.
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning schedules and equipment maintenance.
  • Handle special dietary requests and allergies with utmost care and attention.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Exceptional culinary skills and a strong understanding of various cooking techniques.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP principles.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Creativity and passion for food.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent culinary qualification.
  • Experience in fine dining or high-volume catering.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior kitchen staff.
  • A portfolio or demonstrable examples of culinary work.
