Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimise chemical processes and equipment.
  • Conduct process simulations and modelling to predict system behaviour and performance.
  • Develop and revise Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and other engineering documentation.
  • Monitor and analyse process data to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (R&D, production, quality assurance) on project execution.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources where applicable.
  • Research and integrate new technologies and sustainable practices into existing processes.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and process documentation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience in process design, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat/mass transfer).
  • Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., ASPEN HYSYS, PRO/II).
  • Familiarity with P&ID development and interpretation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., COSHH, ATEX).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Experience in specific industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, or renewables.
