Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimise chemical processes and equipment.
- Conduct process simulations and modelling to predict system behaviour and performance.
- Develop and revise Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and other engineering documentation.
- Monitor and analyse process data to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (R&D, production, quality assurance) on project execution.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources where applicable.
- Research and integrate new technologies and sustainable practices into existing processes.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and process documentation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in process design, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat/mass transfer).
- Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., ASPEN HYSYS, PRO/II).
- Familiarity with P&ID development and interpretation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., COSHH, ATEX).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Experience in specific industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, or renewables.
