Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Communications Officer (CCO) to join our executive leadership team based in Cyangugu (Rusizi). The CCO will be instrumental in shaping, protecting, and enhancing Bank of Kigali’s reputation and brand image across all stakeholders. This strategic role demands a leader with exceptional communication acumen, a deep understanding of media relations, and the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with our diverse audiences, both internally and externally. The CCO will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with our corporate objectives, values, and market position. This includes overseeing public relations, media engagement, internal communications, crisis management, digital communication, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) messaging. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, strategic thinker with a proven track record of managing high-stakes communications in a complex, regulated environment, preferably within the financial services sector. You will lead a dedicated team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and ethical communication practices to reinforce Bank of Kigali’s position as a trusted and respected financial partner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a holistic communication strategy aligned with Bank of Kigali's strategic objectives and brand identity.
- Oversee all aspects of public relations, including media relations, press releases, public statements, and media monitoring.
- Manage internal communications to ensure consistent messaging, employee engagement, and alignment with corporate vision and values.
- Lead crisis communication efforts, developing robust plans and serving as a key spokesperson during sensitive situations to protect the bank's reputation.
- Shape and control the bank's corporate messaging across all platforms, including digital, print, and broadcast media.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, industry influencers, government bodies, and regulatory authorities.
- Drive the bank's digital communication strategy, including social media, website content, and online reputation management.
- Advise the CEO and executive leadership on all critical communication matters and emerging public perception issues.
- Oversee the planning and execution of corporate events, sponsorships, and CSR initiatives from a communications perspective.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team.
- Monitor and analyze communication effectiveness, adapting strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong strategic planning and execution abilities.
- Extensive experience in media relations and public affairs.
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis communication and reputation management.
- Proficiency in digital communication strategies and social media management.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Deep understanding of the Rwandan business and media landscape.
- High degree of integrity and ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience in the financial services or banking sector.
- Experience working in a publicly listed company or a regulated industry.
- Proficiency in French is an added advantage.
