Job Description
As Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Mimosa Mining Company, you will be a pivotal member of our executive leadership team, directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and providing critical financial oversight to the Board of Directors. This highly strategic role demands a visionary leader with exceptional financial acumen, a deep understanding of the global mining sector’s unique financial challenges and opportunities, and the proven ability to drive sustainable growth and profitability in a dynamic and complex operational environment. You will be instrumental in formulating and executing robust financial strategies, managing comprehensive financial reporting, ensuring stringent regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions, and optimizing the company’s capital structure to maximize shareholder value. The CFO will lead and oversee all financial aspects of the company, including but not limited to accounting operations, treasury management, tax planning and compliance, sophisticated financial planning and analysis (FP&A), internal audit functions, and investor relations. You will provide critical, data-driven insights and strategic guidance to the CEO and Board, enabling informed decision-making that will directly impact Mimosa’s long-term success, market position, and overall resilience. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with Mimosa's overall business objectives and long-term growth plans.
- Oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Manage treasury functions, including cash flow management, foreign exchange risk mitigation, and capital allocation strategies to optimize returns.
- Lead the preparation of financial statements, annual reports, and other financial disclosures for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure robust internal controls, governance, and compliance frameworks are in place to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Evaluate and advise on potential mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic financial transactions.
- Cultivate strong relationships with banks, financial institutions, investors, and other external partners.
- Provide insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Manage tax planning and compliance, optimizing the company's tax position while adhering to all relevant legislation.
- Oversee enterprise risk management pertaining to financial operations and strategic investments.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership in a senior financial role, with significant experience within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Expert knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Zimbabwean financial regulations.
- Strong strategic planning, financial modelling, and capital allocation capabilities.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a results-oriented approach.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, financial operations, and large-scale projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in advanced financial software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to corporate governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a closely related field.
- Experience with investor relations, capital markets, and fundraising activities.
- Professional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting and sustainable finance principles in the mining context.
- Experience operating in a multinational or publicly listed company environment.
