Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally driven and strategic Chief Sales Officer (CSO) to lead our sales division and significantly expand our market presence, particularly within the vital Manicaland Province and its surrounding regions, including Buhera. The successful CSO will be a visionary leader responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that drive aggressive revenue growth, optimize distribution channels, and strengthen National Foods’ brand dominance across all product categories. This is a critical executive role demanding a professional with a proven track record of sales excellence, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and manage high-performing teams in a dynamic market environment. The CSO will be instrumental in identifying new market opportunities, fostering key client relationships, and ensuring our sales objectives are consistently met and exceeded. You will work closely with other executive leaders to align sales initiatives with overall business goals, product development, and marketing campaigns. Understanding the unique landscape of both urban and rural markets, and tailoring approaches to maximize penetration and customer satisfaction will be paramount. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve ambitious revenue targets and market share growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing national and regional sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Oversee the entire sales operation, including budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, and reporting to the executive board.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, key partnerships, and market segments, with a particular focus on expanding reach in rural and untapped areas.
  • Optimize existing distribution channels and develop new ones to ensure efficient product delivery and availability across all regions, including Buhera.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and stakeholders.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to adapt sales strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives and product launches.
  • Drive the adoption of sales technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage sales P&L, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Represent National Foods Limited at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive sales leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role (e.g., CSO, VP of Sales, Sales Director).
  • Demonstrated success in driving significant revenue growth and market share expansion within the FMCG or agricultural sector.
  • Profound understanding of sales principles, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and sales analytics.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities, with a track record of motivating and developing large sales teams.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable sales plans.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and financial performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Zimbabwean market, particularly rural distribution and consumer behaviors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience working with diverse distribution models, including wholesale, retail, and direct-to-consumer in both urban and rural settings.
  • Familiarity with digital sales channels and e-commerce strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in brand building and market entry strategies.
